As the trend caught on, with a domino effect of users inspiring other users to read into and take the test, it’s supposedly allowing you to identify a more suitable partner – without all that need for awkward small talk. So Syncd, based in London, was created by sisters Jessica and Louella Alderson. It uses a unique algorithm, based on Myers-Briggs personality types and compiled via a five-minute online test, to match people with a compatibility percentage.

As part of her new book Speaking In Thumbs, Dr Winsberg explains the ‘big five’ personality types using the acronym OCEAN. You are then given a compatibility percentage with each potential match which indicates the chance of you forming a strong connection.
